Thanet Way - Overnight Closures

A299 THANET WAY

(PROHIBITION OF DRIVING)

TEMPORARY ORDER 2018

To allow various essential maintenance works to be safely carried out,Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on sections of the A299 Thanet Way in the Swale, Canterbury and Thanet areas. Phased overnight closures are planned from Monday 9 July 2018 for up to 7 weekday nights, between 19:30 hours through to 05:00 hours each night.~ During these closures there will be no direct access along the A299 Thanet Way, so extra time should be allowed for all journeys ~Closures will be in 5 different phases, as detailed below.


NIGHT 1 – A299 closed coastbound from Brenley Corner to Clapham Hill, Alternative route via A2 Boughton Bypass, Dover Road, A2050 Harbledown Bypass, London Road, A290 Whitstable Road, St ThomasHill, Whitstable Road, Tile Kiln Hill, Blean Hill, Blean Common, Honey Hill, Pean Hill and Clapham Hill.


NIGHT 2 – A299 closed London-bound from Clapham Hill to BrenleyCorner. Alternative route as per Night 1, but in reverse.


NIGHTS 3 & 4 – A299 closed in both directions between Clapham Hill and Eddington Interchange. Alternative route via A2990 Old Thanet Way.


NIGHTS 5 & 6 – A299 closed between Eddington Interchange and StNicholas Roundabout; the road will only be closed in one direction onany one night.Alternative route via A291 Canterbury Road, Herne Street, Canterbury Road, Calcott Hill, Herne Bay Road, Sturry Hill, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill, Island Road and Canterbury Road, and vice versa.


NIGHT 7 – A299 closed in both directions between St Nicholas Roundabout and Monkton Road. Alternative route via A28 Canterbury Road, A253 Ramsgate Road and Canterbury Road.


Diversions will be signposted for side-roads, to allow local access.


Access to the remainder of A299 Thanet Way continues from either direction up to where the road is actually closed at any time.


This programme is subject to weather and other factors which may potentially cause changes at short notice.
