Temporary Overnight Road Closures – A299 Thanet Way, Brenley Corner to Whitstable – from 19 March 20

KENT COUNTY COUNCIL A299 THANET WAY, BRENLEY CORNER TO WHITSTABLE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2019

To allow essential carriageway strengthening and resurfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on the A299 Thanet Way between Brenley Corner and Whitstable. Overnight closures are planned from Tuesday 19 March 2019 for up to 11 consecutive nights, between 20:00 hours and approximately 06:00 hours each night. A299 Thanet Way will be closed between Brenley Corner (M2 junction 7) and Clapham Hill Intersection (junction with A290 Clapham Hill / A2990 (Old) Thanet Way) with no through access. The alternative is via A2 Boughton Bypass, Dover Road, A2050 Harbledown Bypass, London Road, A290 Whitstable Road, St Thomas Hill, Whitstable Road, Tile Kiln Hill, Blean Hill, Blean Common, Honey Hill, Pean Hill and Clapham Hill, and vice versa. Only one carriageway will be closed on any one night, but the actual timings of the closures is yet to be confirmed, and likely to interchange as works progress, with closures clearly indicated by signage on site. The slip-roads leading to and from the A299 Thanet Way will be closed at certain times as the works progress, as and when the relevant signs and barriers are displayed on site, with signposted diversions to direct traffic to meet the main diversion. These works are part of an extensive resurfacing programme which is subject to weather and other factors that may potentially cause changes at short notice; every effort will be made to keep as close as possible to the planned dates, and any changes will be publicised
